What do you do on the 14th of March? Every year on the 14th day of the third month, people around the world celebrate Pi Day because 3.14 are the first three digits of pi, a never-ending irrational number. Pi, also expressed as the Greek letter π, is one of the most widely used constants in math. Computers have calculated pi to more than 22 trillion digits. It’s a big holiday for math lovers, and many plan to take part in Pi Day activities ranging from pie-making contests to memorization showdowns. The Guinness World Record for the most decimal places of pi recited is 70,000. Rajveer Meena from India accomplished that in 2015. It took him nearly 10 hours to recite the digits!
