Clippable Camera
Courtesy of Canon
Don’t let the small size of this camera fool you. This pint-sized gadget can fit in your palm and take photos and videos. Instead of selling it in regular retail stores, Canon launched the colorful camera, called the IVY REC, on the crowdfunding website Indiegogo. It sold out within a few days.
Built for adventure, the IVY REC doesn’t have a screen to crack. Canon designed its square clip to function as a viewfinder. The camera can survive being under 3.3 feet of water for 30 minutes. It’s also shockproof—it can withstand drops from up to 6.6 feet. IVY REC can be mounted on tripods and connected to smartphones over wireless networks. When you’re not shooting photos, you can clip the camera to your belt loop or backpack and be on your way.
Canon sells the IVY REC for $130. Early crowdfunders could buy it for $104. What is this discount written as a percent? Record your work and answer on our Numbers in the News answer sheet.
