The action-packed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings hits theaters this month. It’s the 25th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Actor Simu Liu plays Shang-Chi, a martial arts expert who has to take on the shadowy Ten Rings organization. It’s Marvel’s first film with an Asian lead role. “I feel like we’ve all waited a long time to see ourselves on-screen portrayed in this kind of way,” says Liu.

Shang-Chi doesn’t wear a mask, so Liu had to perform most of his own stunts because his face was always visible. But he was up to the challenge. “I’ve had the opportunity to taste so many different styles of martial arts,” he says.
