2 Truths + 1 Lie
Courtesy Virginia Zoo
What is the zebra thinking?
This baby zebra, named Abbey, couldn’t stand on a scale by herself. Luckily, a zookeeper at the Virginia Zoo in Norfolk lent her a pair of helping hands! Below are three statements . . . but one is a lie! Use percents to find the lie! Record your work and answers on the online skill sheet/answer sheet.
The average adult man weighs 200 pounds. Abbey weighed 77.5 pounds, which is 38.75% of that!
Truth or Lie?
Members of this zebra species weigh 600 pounds when fully grown. So at 77.5 lbs, Abbey was 5.3% of her adult weight.
Abbey was 3 feet tall at birth. Her height will increase by 66% to be nearly 5 feet as an adult.
