On October 16, 1923, brothers Walt and Roy Disney founded the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio in Hollywood, California. Walt Disney was an animation pioneer. He created the first feature-length animated movies with synchronized sound. He even designed specialized cameras to capture multiple images at once.
After Walt’s death in 1966, his company continued to innovate. Disney animators used computer-generated images in the 1990s and worked with Pixar to develop new 3-D animation techniques like those in Toy Story.
A century after its founding, the Walt Disney Company does much more than animation. It creates theme parks, TV channels, streaming services, and more. The company is a household name and powerhouse of entertainment!
