Farming Underground

When you think of a farm, you probably imagine open fields of crops. But a company in South Korea called Farm8 has been building farms in subway stations! In 2019, Farm8 started Metro Farm, which grows about 30 types of organic vegetables using only 4,241 square feet of space.
Metro Farm uses automated tech that is monitored by humans. It also uses LED grow-lights in place of the sun. Farm8 then sells dishes made using these fruits and veggies in its café on the surface.
Metro Farm grows 66 pounds of vegetables per day. How many pounds will it grow in a year? Record your work and answer on our Numbers in the News answer sheet.
