During the pandemic, when Chicago’s Field Museum was closed to human visitors, it opened up to penguins! In late June, Shedd Aquarium penguins Izzy and Darwin took a trip to the Field Museum. There they visited the skeleton of a T. rex named SUE. SUE is one of the largest T. rex specimens ever found.

Seeing the penguins explore the museum and interact with SUE was a memorable experience, says penguin caretaker Jen Becker. “They came running around the corner and kind of just stood and looked,” she says. “I had this moment in my head where I was like, ‘This is crazy. They’re so small and this T. rex is so big.’”
