Today, Greta Thunberg is one of the best-known climate activists in the world. But it all started small: In the summer of 2018, she began holding a one-person climate protest. With her parents’ permission, 15-year-old Greta would skip school every Friday and sit outside the Swedish parliament building with a sign that read “School Strike for Climate.” Since then, students around the world inspired by Greta have held their own strikes for climate justice.
