Meet Hailey Scheinman. She’s the newest Marvel Comics hero. In many ways, Hailey is a typical 14-year-old. She loves Iron Man and Captain America. She wants to go to space one day. But right now she’s working on a different goal. She wants to make the world a better place for people with disabilities.
Hailey is one of 20 real-life super heroes in a new series called Marvel's Hero Project. It streams exclusively on Disney+. Hailey's episode airs this month.
Hailey's origin story begins with her twin sister, Livy. Livy has epilepsy and cerebral palsy. Epilepsy causes seizures, or uncontrolled movements and behaviors. Cerebral palsy makes Livy's muscles weak. Physical therapy sessions help her get stronger, but they’re expensive. "I didn't understand the hardships she was going through, but I always wanted to help her," says Hailey.
