Fresh Fund-Raiser
Students sell all sorts of things to raise money for their schools: candy, wrapping paper, popcorn, and more. But after selling candy bars for his school fund-raiser in Flint, Michigan, 8-year-old Max Abbott told his dad, Mark, that the downside was that he was peddling junk food. This led Mark to found FarmRaiser. The company helps schools and organizations raise money by selling produce and products from local farmers and artisans.
Since it started in 2013, FarmRaiser has helped about 100 schools and organizations in 22 states sell more than $250,000 worth of healthy food. By selling food from farms and local businesses, 85 percent of every dollar customers spend stays in the community.
Albert S. Hall School in Waterville, Maine, raised $675 in a FarmRaiser. Its fund-raising goal was $1,000. What percent of its goal did the school reach?
