Don’t be fooled by these miniature masterpieces—they’re candy, not creatures! Shinri Tezuka is a Japanese candy artist. He rolls, sculpts, and paints softened candy to look like animals. He’s one of just two known artisans in Tokyo who have mastered the art of candy crafting known as Amezaiku (ah-may-zeye-koo). The art form dates back hundreds of years. Tezuka hopes his creations, which he sells in his shop, will inspire others to keep the tradition alive.
