Prehistoric Safari

Julien Nonnon

Artist Julien Nonnon brought the extinct to life in his project Prehistoric Safari. Using video-mapping technology, he projected images of dinosaurs onto buildings in Paris, France. He’s created 17 projections of species that lived during the Cretaceous period, including a Triceratops and T. rex.

The projections are life-sized and range from 2 to 10 meters in height. Nonnon wanted to project dinosaurs at this size to create an immersive experience, bringing out the child in those who visit the exhibition.

“I was inspired by adventure books of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Jules Verne, and Michael Crichton—as well as Steven Spielberg’s movies,” says Nonnon. “My favorite dinosaur in the exhibit is the T. rex of course!”
